Our Platform
Improve Communication
The first step to accessibility is communication. Once elected, we will ensure an accessible TDWD website is created and regularly updated. All TDWD members will be notified in advance of upcoming meetings and events. Additionally, we will improve and streamline communication between caucus members and party leadership with defined ways to share feedback and get involved.
Advocate For Access
As Chair and Vice-Chair, we will fight to expand the accessibility of Texas Democratic Party events, including (but certainly not limited to) pushing for virtual options for attending the Texas Democratic Convention. On top of that, we will work with the TDP and county parties to assist in reducing the barriers to participate in local political process.
Bridge The Gap
We are dedicated to elevating the voices of the disabled community and ensuring that our elected representatives and candidates hear and understand the concerns of our community. We believe that together, our voices are louder.
Bruce Johnson
Bruce Johnson is a native Oklahoman with deep Texas roots (160+ years on his mom’s side!). Guided by faith, driven by community, and dedicated to fighting for what matters—whether that’s advocating for women’s rights, supporting kids with specialized needs, or serving as Vice Chair of the Disability Caucus to break down barriers for visible and invisible disabilities. When he's off the clock, Bruce is usually watching the OKC Thunder, hunting down great local food, or spending time with family.
Tilley Vartian
As both a proud Okinawan-American and intersex person, Tilley understands how important intersectionality is to creating inclusive policy. Despite their daily battle with chronic pain, their tenacity has given them a reputation as someone who gets things done.
Previously, they served as the Vice Chair of Young Democrats of Denton County, and they currently act as an Executive Assistant to the Denton County Democratic Party, and run their own business designing memorable and accessible campaigns.
